What a lovely post-concert party on Wednesday night….the wine was flowing (thanks to Jennie Royd’s wine company who always come up trumps) and the nibbles were being nibbled! Lovely to have a chance to chat with everyone. Thanks to Sally and her fabulous team for putting on a lovely spread. You are all wonderful people! Would you believe that Sally kept apologising because due to other commitments there wasn’t her usual quantity of home-made fayre, but she still managed to feed us all really well…!
Well done to you all especially Rachel for surviving the music distribution process (always a sigh of relief to get through at the beginning of each programme)! Rachel will continue to give out music for the tour/Autumn programme next week. If you didn’t come last week don’t forget to bring a printed copy of the Mozart Missa Breva in D, or be prepared to buy a pre-printed one.
Also Rachel tells me there are still some people who haven’t returned their hired Elgar music. If this applies to you, then there may be fines applied now if she can’t sweet-talk the library on your behalf…honestly the things she has to do for you all 🙂 Please bring it in next week for her sake….
Fancy singing at a wedding service….?
We mentioned this earlier in the year, but Amanda’s looking for some strong singers to bolster the singing at a wedding in Chiddingfold on 10th August. You’ll be singing in the choir pews in prime position! By doing this you will help to raise money and awareness for our choir, as well as enjoying participating. If you would like to volunteer please email Amanda on email@example.com. She needs a good handful of people so please come forward – it should be a really lovely occasion.
Summer Tour – limited spaces now available!
If your July arrangements have changed or you’ve recently joined the choir and would like some more information about it, Michael tells me that there are now some spaces again on our Summer Tour to Brittany due to a couple of people having to drop out, so please do contact Michael or Claire and ask them about it if you’re interested. You can read all about it, including the draft itinerary on our Summer Tour webpage (you’ll need to log in to the Members Area first).
Music Practise for Wednesday
It was nice to sing together as a whole choir on Wednesday but we do notice the time it takes to get around all the different voice groups in these early days of learning the notes etc. So on Wednesday we will start doing ‘sectional’ rehearsals again to speed things up.
Talking of which, there is now LOADS of help on a new webpage specifically for learning the Mozart Missa Brevis. It’s actually publically available so you won’t need to log in to view it directly, although you can also get to it through our Music Programme & Practise page of course which has sample recordings etc.
We will go over the movements we covered last week but will start the new ones in order, so a little familiarisation with your voice parts for the next few movements beforehand is actively encouraged and will win you many brownie points amongst your fellow singers!
Remember to pre-order your CD/Recording of our concert
We will continue to sell CD/Recordings of our beautifully performed concert! Please do pre-order a copy – now £17 – they make a great present for family and friends, and are a wonderful memento of the evening.

That’s it for now – see you on Wednesday (do try and come early if you’re collecting music) – and remember to print the Mozart piece if you haven’t already…
