At our last rehearsal Jeannie announced our exciting plans (initially proposed by Gillie Ross) to put on an open rehearsal at All Hallows Church Tillington on 10th April – our last rehearsal before our Easter break.

The idea of this is to invite any family and friends and those who are interested in the choir to come along and listen to some of the choruses whilst we practise, in the lovely surroundings of All Hallows church.

Not only is it a lovely way of forging new links with another church in our area, but it is a great opportunity to do all these things at the same time:-

  • raise some money for the choir by charging £5 per ticket,
  • raise some money for the church with a retiring collection
  • increase awareness of our wonderful choir to friends & neighbours, so they can see us practising first-hand and perhaps even join us in the Autumn
  • increase awareness locally of our forthcoming concert at The Royal Festival Hall

Tickets are a flat £5 fee for all and are available from our website or from Readers Good Books or online.

As you can see our flyers are ready for distribution so please do spread the word!

Autumn Concert/Summer Tour Music Programme

The music programme for the tour and Autumn Concert has now been finalised and can be viewed on our Summer Tour page (to be added to our Music Programme & Practise page shortly).  Please do keep checking the page for updated information and/or tour team contact details, a few more items have been added after reviewing suggestions from choir members.

Summer Tour

Tour now FULL!

As Claire announced last week, the Summer Tour is now full, but if you’d still like to go don’t worry – we are maintaining a Waiting List.  Just email if you’d like your name to be added.

Spare rooms pre-tour please!

In the meantime we are starting to look at the accommodation requirements of our non-Leconfield Singers tourers.  As usual we are looking for your help here.  Our tours would not be possible without our guest singers, so we need to support them as much as we can, and one of the ways you can help is to offer accommodation for the night before the tour (after our pre-tour rehearsal).  So if you are going on tour, have any spare rooms and live a reasonable distance from Petworth we would love to hear from you!  Please mail if you can help.

Tour Rehearsals

We can’t stress enough how important tourers’ attendance is to these rehearsals, and everyone going on tour is expected to attend unless they tell us otherwise.  The information is permanently available on the Summer Tour page, but just for the record, we have 2 Tour rehearsals planned:

  • Tour Workshop – Saturday 13th July 2019 (9.30am – 2.30pm)
  • Pre-Tour Rehearsal – Tuesday 16th July (7-9pm)

Both rehearsals will take place at The United Reformed Church, Petworth GU28 0AW

Music practise for next week

We got a good way through Praise to the Holiest on Wednesday – well done to everyone, there is a lot to learn but progress continues to be very encouraging!  Please continue to practise this at home.  Help is available free on our Music Programme & Practise page.

Next week we will go back to the beginning again, so we recommend that you refresh yourselves on the first choruses we learnt so that it will come back even faster 🙂

First Joint Workshop – NEXT Saturday 2nd March in Amersham

Don’t forget that we have our first joint workshop with our 2 ‘sister’ choirs in Amersham next Saturday 2nd March.  Please don’t forget to book transport if you want to make life easy for yourselves and don’t want the stress of finding your way there and parking etc!  It’s not too late and you can book coach tickets right up to the day (£15).  Tickets can be booked during rehearsals or at any time by emailing

Please also book your tickets for any other coaches on offer – bear in mind that we will have to close the doors shortly so that we settle on coach sizes.

And finally – Fancy singing at a wedding service….?

We’re looking for some strong singers to bolster the singing at a wedding in Chddingfold on 10th August. You’ll be singing in the choir pews in prime position! By doing this you will help to raise money and awareness for our choir.  If you would like to volunteer please email Amanda on
