Firstly well done to everyone who attended today – lots was covered in the workshop today and we made some really good progress!

As promised, full Concert Notes are now available on our website as a menu option in our Members Info menu (you need to log in to see it).  On this page you’ll find everything you need to be ‘Concert Ready’ – from what to wear to the programme running orders.  There is also a summarised schedule for the day.

Just a few important points to note regarding the concert:

  • For gentlemen the Matinée dress is DIFFERENT (black shirts) to the Evening dress (DJs)
  • For ladies the Matinée dress can be slightly less formal if preferred
  • Soup and sandwiches can still be ordered for before the evening concert at any rehearsals before concert day at a cost of £10 – just see Steph
  • Hopefully you should all by now have a Black Folder and start putting your music in Matinée order in your folders.  Bear in mind you’ll need to re-arrange the music before the Evening concert and please be aware that unfortunately the carols are not in the same order 🙂
  • It is recommended that you print the running orders for both concerts and stick them to the front of your folder
  • A final set of PDFs (including a corrected version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen) will be sent out by email tomorrow.  The expectation is that you will need to go into the concert with only 2 books on top of the sheet music: Now Rejoice! and Nowell! Nowell!, unless you can arrange to photocopy the music from them yourselves.  All other music is either provided as a PDF for you to print/buy or was available as sheet music (i.e. not so heavy!)
  • Help is at hand for learning the carols from Carols for Choirs 1!  These can now be practised using the audio clips available for each voice type.  To access these just go to the Music Programme & Practise page and click and expand the Carols for Choirs 1 title.
  • Anyone who has bought a printed version of the PDFs – please ask for these additional/updated printouts from Rachel, they will be provided free of charge
  • You should ensure that you have all the music you need in your folders by the rehearsal on this coming Wednesday according to the running orders on the Concert Notes page – please no last minute requests!

Last 2 rehearsals are at the Sacred Heart church

Graham would like to see all Tenors & Basses for a 7.30 (sharp) start on Wednesday.  If you can get there for 7.20pm that will ensure a prompt start.  This would be really useful to go over and perfect some of the more tricky parts we were covering today.

Sopranos and Altos should arrive at normal rehearsal time.

The Dream of Gerontius – order your music here!

The Leconfield Singers stands still for no man (or woman)!!  In preparation for our Summer concert at The Royal Festival Hall on May 8th, Rachel would like to know how many copies to buy/hire of The Dream of Gerontius score.
